The Chamber of Commerce serving Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows has been working for our two communities and our membership since 1999. Independently, the two chambers were incorporated around 1910 but were dissolved during World War One. After the War they were reinstated and decided to join both chambers to better serve our communities.
Working on behalf of business and our members, the Chamber’s collective purpose is to foster a thriving, prosperous business community. The chamber proudly represents and promotes over 490 businesses in and around our cities and region. Through our organization, members have the opportunity to contribute to the community and influence all levels of government for positive policy change. In addition, members receive benefits that include nationally negotiated discounts and educational and networking opportunities of value to their businesses.
The Chamber is a catalyst - a common vehicle mobilizing enlightened members from all segments of local businesses to work together to achieve and maintain a healthy and strong business community. Everything else the Chamber does is a means to an end (events, mixers, luncheons, fundraisers and meetings).
The Chamber advocates to promote business; monitors municipal, provincial and federal governments; and champions a sustainable business environment.
When you invest in your local Chamber of Commerce, you are investing in your own prosperity - both as a businessperson and as a member of the community.
The Chamber of Commerce strives to increase its influence in the community, the relevance to business, and overall ability to represent the members. We regularly survey our members to better understand the needs and wants of the businesses.
The major benefit of membership in the Chamber of Commerce acts as the unified voice of businesses, including industry and professional firms. Chamber of Commerce also provide their members with value-added programs and benefits, available to only members (i.e. merchant services, comprehensive group insurance, gas discounts and couriers to name a few). The savings from these programs often offsets the cost of membership.
Strong membership involvement in its activities will increase the impact and effectiveness of the organization.
The Chamber membership is an investment in the present and future of the individual's and the community's welfare.
A Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization designed to meet community or area needs. It is a voluntary organization of progressive individuals and businesses that work together to advance the commercial, financial, industrial and civic interest of a community
The Chamber is funded by the membership dues and a small percentage from events.
A board of directors runs the not-for-profit organization. The Board, serving as volunteers, governs the chamber by setting the policies and goals of the organization, and the Chamber Staff work with the Board to conduct the business of the Chamber.
The Volunteers provide ideas, the drive, the goals, the funds and the voluntary services to keep the Chamber of Commerce motivated and operating.
